Fetal Medicine is a subspecialty under Obstetrics and Gynecology, concerned with the dedicated care of the baby during itsjourney of nine months inside the mother’s womb.Advances in antenatal care has underscored the importance of individualized care for the baby in addition to that for the expectant mother for optimizing pregnancy outcomes.A Fetal medicine specialist provides comprehensive care for the fetus (the baby before its birth) using high resolution ultrasound machine, screening tests, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

  •  Early pregnancy assessment and scan (< 11 weeks)
  •  The 11-13+6 weeks scan
  • For Nuchal translucency (NT) and calculation of the risk of Down syndrome for your baby. We follow the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF), UK algorithm for the risk calculation. The NT images are audited foraccuracy. All ultrasound markers (Nasal bone, Ductusvenosus and Tricuspid regurgitation) are included to provide the most precise risk.Additionally, a detailed assessment of the fetal anatomy is done to rule out any major structural malformations.

    A maternal risk assessment for developing high blood pressure (Pre-eclampsia) later in the pregnancy is also offered.

Dr. Seneesh Kumar V
MBBS MD DNB (Obs & Gyn)

    Dr. Seneesh completed his MBBS from Government medical college Alappuzha (Kerala), MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Government medical college, Baroda (Gujarat) in 2010, and DNB in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2012. He underwent training in Feto-Maternal Medicine at Center for Infertility management and assisted reproduction (CIMAR), Edappal Hospital Pvt Ltd. He was the Senior consultant, and the lead physician in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, CIMAR Edappal from 2011 till 2017. During this period he performed over 50000 scans, and 1500 prenatal invasive procedures. He has trained 12 fellows in Fetal Medicine, and 100 doctors in FOGSI recognized Ultrasound training programme. He has teaching experience of six years for post graduates in OB and GYN (DNB)of the NATBOARD, New Delhi. Dr. Seneesh has 14 publications in national and international journals. He has been a speaker in National and international conferences. He is the joint secretary of Society of Fetal Medicine, Kerala chapter.

    He obtained additional training in Fetal Medicine from the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF), London (UK) under Prof KyprosNicloaides. He has obtained the FMF certification for the anomaly scan. He is currently pursuing Masters in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and research from the prestigious University of Barcelona (Spain) under Prof. Eduard Gratacos.
